Land Clearing, Grading & Skid Steer Work

BlackRidge Contracting handles the dirt work most builders subcontract out, land clearing, tree removal, grading, drainage, driveways, and skid steer work, on our own equipment, on our own schedule.

What we do

The dirt work that makes construction possible

Site work is the difference between a build that starts smoothly and a build that fights the land every step of the way. BlackRidge self-performs the work, so you don't get bounced between contractors during the most critical phase of a project.

  • Land clearing and brush removal
  • Tree removal and stump work
  • Site preparation for new construction
  • Building pad grading
  • Drainage grading and site drainage planning
  • Driveway grading and rural access work
  • Skid steer work of every kind
  • Coordination with foundation work
Why it matters

One contractor for site work AND construction

The advantage of hiring BlackRidge for site prep is that if you're also building, we're the same builder, no telephone game between the site guy and the framing guy. Site conditions inform how the foundation sits, how the drainage runs, and how the driveway approaches the house. Doing them together means fewer surprises later.

Even if you aren't building yet, BlackRidge can clear, grade, and prep the land so it's ready when you are, or ready to sell.

Common jobs

What site work looks like in practice

Clearing

Getting the lot ready

Brush, small trees, and overgrown areas cleared to open up the site. Debris hauled off. What was jungle a week ago is a workable lot.

Tree removal

Selective or full

Individual tree removal for building envelopes and driveways, or full-clearing for larger site prep. Stumps handled to fit the next step.

Grading

Pads & finish grade

Building pad grading for foundations, finish grade for yards, and slope grading for drainage. Precision matters, a bad pad shows up in cracked concrete years later.

Drainage

Water sent where it belongs

Site drainage planning so rain moves away from the foundation, the driveway, and the yard. Trench work, drainage grading, and coordination with any pipe or drainage systems.

Driveways

Rural access & approach

Driveway grading and rural access work sized to fit the vehicles that will actually use it. Approach angles matter, especially in Kansas winters.

Skid steer

Every kind of work

Skid steer work handled directly by the builder. No subcontracted dirt work, no surprises when the equipment doesn't show up.

Common questions

Frequently asked

Do you clear land only, or is site work only offered with a build?

Both. BlackRidge takes site-work-only jobs, clearing, grading, drainage, driveways, and full site-prep-plus-construction packages. Some customers hire us to prep the land now and build later.

How does site work with BlackRidge differ from hiring a separate contractor?

If you're also building, hiring BlackRidge for site work means the same builder is handling site prep, foundation coordination, and the home itself. Fewer handoffs, one schedule, one number to call.

Do you do drainage work?

Yes. Drainage grading, site drainage planning, and coordination with any drainage or pipe systems are within scope. Where the water goes matters, for the foundation, the driveway, and the yard.

Can you handle rural properties and long driveways?

Yes. Rural work is a specialty. Driveway grading, access approach, and site prep for rural building envelopes are all in-house.

What kind of equipment do you run?

Skid steer, excavator, and related earth-moving equipment. Because it's owner-operated, the equipment shows up when Brayton needs it, not when a subcontractor is finally available.
