Detached Garages, Shops & Outbuildings

Detached garages, workshops, and outbuildings built in Kansas by BlackRidge Contracting. Engineered and finished to the same standard as the main house, and built to fit the way you actually use them.

What we build

Structures that work as hard as you do

Whether you need a clean two-car detached garage, a shop for equipment and projects, or a barndominium-style structure to live in, BlackRidge builds it ground-up. The same standards used on custom homes, engineered foundation, quality framing, careful finish work, apply to every outbuilding we put on your land.

  • Detached one-, two-, and three-car garages
  • Workshops with electrical, heat, and insulation planning
  • Outbuildings, sheds, and equipment storage
  • Barndominium-style structures when scope and site fit
  • Structures designed to complement (not clash with) the main home
Site work included

Foundation, drive, and drainage in-house

Most garage and outbuilding projects need site prep, a proper pad, and a drivable approach. Because BlackRidge does its own site work, grading, drainage, driveway, you don't have to hire and coordinate a separate contractor for the dirt work.

Utilities planning matters too. If your shop needs power, water, or a rough-in for a lift, we'll walk through what makes sense given your property and budget.

Common builds

Fits every property differently

Detached garages

Two- and three-car garages

Concrete floor, framed walls, insulation options, and finished siding that matches the home. Doors, windows, and utilities specified for how you'll use it.

Workshops

Shops built for real work

Higher ceilings, wider doors, better lighting, and utility rough-ins. If you know what you'll be working on, Brayton can spec the shop to match.

Outbuildings

Storage, feed rooms, tack rooms

Rural-property outbuildings for equipment, storage, and animals. Structures scoped to your land and use.

Barndominium-style

Live-in structures when the fit is right

Barndominium-style builds combine shop utility with residential comfort. Spec, foundation, and insulation are engineered to code and to how you'll actually use the space.

Match the home

Designed to complement

Rooflines, siding, and trim can match the existing home so the new structure looks intentional, not tacked on.

Site prep + build

One contractor, one schedule

BlackRidge grades the pad, handles drainage, pours the approach, and builds the structure. Same builder, same schedule, no handoffs.

Common questions

Frequently asked

Do you build detached garages with utilities?

Yes. Standard detached garages, garages with power for lighting and outlets, or shops with 220V and heat can all be scoped. Tell Brayton what you'll be doing in the space and he'll spec it accordingly.

Does BlackRidge build barndominiums?

Yes, when the project fit is right. Barndominium-style structures combine shop utility with residential living space. Site, use case, and code compliance matter, Brayton will walk through what makes sense for your land.

Can the new outbuilding match my existing home?

Yes. Siding, roofing, trim, and paint can be selected to match or intentionally complement the existing home so the new structure looks like it belongs.

Do I need to hire a separate site contractor?

No. BlackRidge does its own site work, so grading, drainage, and driveway approach are handled by the same builder building the structure. See our Site Work page for details.
